West Jefferson and Higgins High Students Can Now Apply for Escalera STEM Program

FullSizeRender_2Applications are now being accepted for the Puentes New Orleans Escalera STEM program. The opportunity is available to students of West Jefferson and L.W. Higgins High who will be a junior in August 2015 and will commit to attending the program’s after school classes throughout its duration. Classes start in August 2015.

Students will learn about the STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) and Latinos in these careers. Escalera STEM also trains its students on applying for college and other post-secondary programs, earning scholarships and internships, interviewing for jobs, and becoming a leader in your community and beyond.

Escalera STEM is part of the National Council of La Raza Escalera Program: Taking Steps to Success. It aims to enhance economic mobility for Latino youth by increasing educational attainment, career planning, and access to information about advanced career options.
