Three JPPSS Schools Are In The Final Four

Three schools in the Jefferson Parish Public School System are in the NCAA Men’s Final Four Tournament being held in New Orleans this year.

Four schools, Fisher Middle School, Livaudais Middle School, Haynes Academy, and Ruppel Academy participated in the Final Four Middle School Madness Program that qualified three of the schools to travel to the Superdome and be a part of the Final Four special events.

Livaudais competed in the poster category, Haynes Academy participated in the essay contest, Fisher participated in the Health & Fitness category, and Ruppel Academy participated in the recycling category.  In fact, Ruppel Academy collected more than four tons of disposable products, that’s more than four times the next closest school competing in the recycling category.

The students that are on the winning teams at Livaudais, Haynes, and Ruppel have won a free trip to attend the Final Four team practices on Friday, March 30 at the Superdome.  The students will receive a t-shirt, be provided with lunch and will sit in reserved seating to watch the teams and participate in interactive activities with the team.

All four schools began working on their Middle School Madness projects back in October of last year.
