Superintendent Invited By Gates Foundation To Discuss Human Capital

Superintendent Dr. Diane Roussel will fly to New York City this weekend to participate in a conference hosted by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to discuss educator evaluation and human capital.

The Gates Foundation is hosting the meeting, the Measures of Effective Teaching, (MET) for a select group of states and districts to learn about the Gates Foundation’s work on how can effective teachers be indentified and developed.  The Gates Foundation’s College Ready Team will share national best practices on how to develop a set of measures that serve as an accurate indicator of a teacher’s impact on student achievement.  The MET project will also highlight the tools and resources the project is generating for use by school districts, states, and other partners.

Jefferson Parish Public School System was chosen to participate because it is the pilot school district for the Louisiana Department of Education’s Human Capital Transformation Project.
