Students from Haynes, Thomas Jefferson, and Ehret Win Titles at National Academic Games

AcademicGames-bannerJPPSS students from Haynes Academy for Advanced Studies, Thomas Jefferson High School, and John Ehret High School won titles at this year’s National Academic Games Tournament, held in Knoxville, Tennessee from April 25-28.

Among the individual and team awards won by the students, the Haynes middle and junior teams were in the top teams in the country, with the middle school team placing second overall in its division and junior team claiming first place overall.

Sharon Witte from Gretna No. 2 Academy was recognized as an Outstanding Sponsor by the National Board for her years of dedication to the players of Jefferson Parish and her hard work as the head scorekeeper for the elementary division at the National Tournament.

The JPPSS schools represented in the tournament included Green Park Elementary, Gretna No. 2 Academy, Keller Elementary, Marrero Academy, Metairie Academy, Riviere Elementary, Woodland West Elementary, Marrero Middle, Ruppel Academy, Patrick Taylor Academy, Haynes Academy, Meisler Middle, John Ehret High, and Thomas Jefferson High. All together, 89 students in grades 5 through 12 represented Jefferson Parish at the National Tournament.
