School System Partners with Hornets for “Bee Fit Challenge”

The Jefferson Parish Public School System is again partnering for the 2011-2012 school year with the New Orleans Hornets and sponsors Ochsner and Blue Cross Blue Shield to promote an exciting fitness program entitled “Bee Fit Challenge” in the system’s elementary schools.

A media conference announcing year two of the program was held at Terrytown Elementary School on September 28.

The “Bee Fit Challenge” will teach children about physical fitness, nutrition tips, and healthy life skills – all designed to fight childhood obesity.

Sponsors Blue Cross Blue Shield and Ochsner will contribute items to track student’s progress on a Fitness Gram.  The Hornets will participate in twenty (20) Bee Fit Field days from Nov. 2011 to Apr. 2012.

Then in late March 2012 there will be the Superintendent’s Fitness Games.  Six (6) of the top male and female students at the Superintendent Games will go on to the Governor’s Games in Baton Rouge at the end of April.
