Schneckenburger Elementary Educator Wins Regional Technology Award

Schneckenburger Elementary Librarian Julie Broussard has been selected as a regional winner of the Louisiana Association of Computer Using Educators (LACUE) Elementary Teacher of the Year. Broussard will be recognized at the annual LACUE Conference Business Meeting and Awards Ceremony December 8 at the New Orleans Hyatt Regency Hotel.

“Ms. Broussard is an incredibly talented teacher, grant writer, and teacher leader for our staff and the district,” said Schneckenburger Elementary Principal Diane Hodge. “She integrates technology into her instruction daily, which also helps instill a love for reading in her students. She leads instructional technology professional development at our school and within the district.”

“She instills a love for reading in our children and has put programs and resources in place, such as the Laura Bush grant and United Way Club Connect, which make reading an enjoyable priority in our school. She is also an incredible technology leader and is a wonderful resource for our staff. On top of all that, she is a very kind, helpful, and positive professional on our campus! She is a true asset here at Schneckenburger!”

Broussard has been a librarian and technology coordinator at Schneckenburger Elementary for eight years. Prior to becoming a librarian, she taught mathematics for two years at the middle school level. Broussard is not only a librarian and technology coordinator, but she is a teacher leader and professional development resource at her school. She also serves as the teacher liaison for the Parent Teacher Organization. Broussard also is an advanced studies academy test administrator for Jefferson Parish Public Schools due to her success in her position and organizational skills.
