Riverdale H.S. TV Production Team Wins Nine State Broadcast Awards

Riverdale High School’s television production program, the WRHS Newsteam, won nine awards at the Louisiana Scholastic Press Association (LSPA) conference.

The news team won two overall awards including Best Newscast and Best Sportscast.  In addition to the two overall awards, students claimed seven individual honors.   Senior Philip Buhler earned three individual awards for best sports profile, best sports photography, and best spot news.  The complete list of awards is posted on the Riverdale High School website.

The contest entries featured stories produced by the students during the 2009-2010 school year.  The LSPA includes schools from around the state of Louisiana that compete against each other in broadcast, newspaper, and yearbook divisions.

Riverdale High School’s television production program was revived in 2008 by advisor Sean Temple.  Over the past two years, the TV production program has won more than a dozen state and regional awards.
