Pittman Teacher Named Louisiana’s Program Advisor of the Year

Pittman Elementary School teacher Dean Tessitore has been named the 2011 Louisiana’s Fuel Up to Play 60 Program Advisor of the Year.

Tessitore was honored for his commitment to making a difference in the lives of students and to making lasting and impactful change to school wellness.

The Fuel Up to Play 60 program encourages students to eat nutrient rich foods and complete at least 60 minutes of physical activity each day.

Fuel Up to Play 60 is a nutrition and physical activity program launched by the National Dairy Council, Southeast Dairy Association and the New Orleans Saints in collaboration with the United States Department of Agriculture.

Pittman was one of 71,000 schools nationwide that participated in the Fuel Up to Play 60 program.
Tessitore is scheduled to receive his award during an upcoming event at the school.
