Pitre Fifth Graders “Crack the Code”

Hour of Code D Edmonston (734x1024)Fifth grade students in Lawrence Jackson, Jr.’s class at Pitre Elementary got coding as part of the Hour of Code, a one-hour introduction to computer science that took place the week of December 8. Jackson designed the Hour of Code activity to complement his ELA curriculum, using a Time for Kids article titled “Cracking the Code” to have students read, find and quote evidence, and write a persuasive essay. After the learning activities, students practiced a fun coding activity, completing their Hour of Code.
