Opening Day 2012-13 A Success

The first day of school for students throughout the 80 schools that make up the Jefferson Parish Public School System was an enormous success.

Students and parents were all smiles at Hazel Park Elementary School where Acting Superintendent Dr. Meza and Jefferson Parish School Board President Mark Jacobs were on hand to greet them.

“It’s a great day today,” said Jacobs. “I’m happy to see a lot of new faces and familiar faces. The teachers are excited. The schools are all up and running. It’s going to be a great, great school year.”

Summing up the upcoming school year, Meza said, “It’s exciting. The facilities look great. The principals are so well organized and have planned a great opening. The teachers are enthusiastic. The children and parents are so happy. It’s a celebration when you return to school and it’s very evident in the schools we visited today that everyone is going to have a great year.”
