Nineteen JPPSS Teachers Awarded QSM Grants

Nineteen teachers from the Jefferson Parish Public School System (JPPSS) have been awarded a grant from the Quality Science & Mathematics Grant Program (QSM).

The QSM program was established by the Louisiana Legislature in the summer of 1992 for the purpose of providing materials and equipment to math and science public school teachers. The program, administered by the Gordon Cain STEM Center at LSU, awarded approximately $162,000 in grants to eligible classroom teachers for the 2014-2015 school year.

Grants for approved materials and equipment were awarded on a competitive basis to individual classroom teachers to use in providing standards-based instruction to help meet state accountability goals. Applicants were required to show that their proposals will enhance the quality of instruction for regular education students who are enrolled in math or science classes.
