Metairie Academy is Alive with the Sound of Music

On a recent afternoon, students in Metairie Academy’s Bell Choir and Music Medley Cluster brought the cafeteria alive with the Sound of Music.

Brigid Higgins, music talent teacher, chose selections from the iconic musical because the combination of bells and song work very well together.

Pallie Thompson, gifted teacher, works with the bell choir.

Fifth grader Lauren Albano loves to sing. She says that it’s a way to express herself without worrying about what anyone thinks.  She has a keen interest in opera and hopes to make it a career.

Principal Helen Blanke believes that clusters are important for the students because it gives them an opportunity to study an area of interest.

Enrichment clusters meet twice a week all year long and include yearbook, knitting and others.
