The Jefferson Parish Public School System took numerous measures during the month of August to assist families impacted by the tragic flooding across our region. We collected school supplies for Louisiana school systems hard hit by the flooding. The flooding occurred during the start of the school year. Along with personal belongings, families also lost their recently purchased school supplies. This was one small way for the JPPSS family to help families of our fellow districts. We’ve also been welcoming families into our schools who have been displaced by the flooding. Much of Louisiana was declared a federal disaster area and some school districts have closed indefinitely. Not only have our staff and educators been happy to assist these families, but our district leaders have worked to simplify the registration process. When we needed help in Jefferson Parish, so many came to our rescue. It is our honor to pay it forward.
Our families in JPPSS are always eager to get involved. Here in our district, we are revitalizing our Eastbank and Westbank Parent Advisory Councils. We value the input of our families and want their involvement. If you are interested in participating, please speak with one of your school administrators. Whether it is here in JPPSS or across our state, it’s a privilege to serve such a compassionate community.
