Message from the Superintendent Regarding East Jefferson High School

When the staff arrived at East Jefferson High School this morning, they found that the campus had been broken into and wrote graffiti on the outside walls facing the courtyard. The messages were deeply disturbing and referenced “shooting the school up.”

Any threat at any school is taken seriously. The safety and security of our students and staff is of utmost importance.

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office was immediately contacted this morning and they are investigating. The Sheriff’s Office released photos of two suspects that were retrieved from a camera located at the school and are asking for the public’s help in identifying the two suspects.

There was additional security at the school today and school counselors will be available for any student who wished to speak with someone.

This story was covered by the local news media and many concerns were expressed. The District will look into these concerns as we want parents to feel assured that when they drop their children off at school every morning that they will be well taken care of by the faculty and staff.
