Message from the Superintendent: March 2016

25526654731_f04da714df_zThe over 1,600 hands I shook recently is further proof of our continued progress in making Jefferson Parish Public Schools the first choice for all stakeholders. That’s the number of young people we honored during our Superintendent’s “A” Breakfast of Champions. This annual event recognizes students in grades 6-12 who earned straight A’s during the first semester. So many young scholars earned this honor that we had to hold six ceremonies spread out over two weeks. Just imagine if we would have also invited students in elementary school grades.

Presenting each student with a medal and getting to meet some of their families after the event was truly an honor. It’s my favorite part of the job. I also enjoyed seeing just how many JPPSS schools produce straight “A” students. It wasn’t limited to one side of the river or certain parts of town. All of Jefferson Parish was well represented.

Thank you to the countless number of students who are making an investment in themselves and Jefferson Parish by putting their education first. Thank you to our teachers, administrators, and staff members who make a difference in the lives of these young people every day. Thank you to our parents for choosing JPPSS. Everything we do comes with our students’ needs first. It’s our goal to provide a world class education to every student, in every classroom, in every school.

Warm Regards,

Isaac G. Joseph
