Message from the Superintendent: January 2016

22442254989_44e7726d48_zI’m proud of what the Jefferson Parish Public School System (JPPSS) accomplished in the newly released state report cards from the Louisiana Department of Education. We maintained our district grade of a “B.” Nearly half our schools earned an “A” or a “B.” JPPSS jumped six spots in the state rankings and outperformed similar large districts across Louisiana. Of the top 10 public schools in Louisiana, five call JPPSS home.

To the students, parents, teachers, administrators, community members, and everyone else in our extended JPPSS family, thank you for your hard work as we continue to move our district forward. We’ve embraced the challenge of higher and more rigorous standards. The expectations are high in Jefferson Parish. These scores give each school a starting point upon which to build. With support from our newly formed Academics Department and other district-level leadership, we are already helping our administrators and teachers dig into the data and pinpoint where our students have the greatest need.

We have a great opportunity moving forward. As our students adjust to these rising expectations and our teachers continue to engage students in innovative ways, our district will move closer and closer to being the first choice for all stakeholders.

Warm Regards,

Isaac G. Joseph
