Message from the Superintendent: January 2014

I am pleased to share through this eNewsletter some of the good news we have received over the past few weeks, including our two state championships; our newest Posse Scholars, and Bridgedale’s National Title I Distinguished School recognition. I also want to thank our plant managers, bus drivers, operations staff, principals, and our parents for their support in getting us through the cold weather and keeping our schools and students safe during this time.

With the support of our parents and our Jefferson Parish community, we have come so far in ensuring our children’s needs are met on every level and moving our students forward in academic achievement. I want to encourage all of us to continue to raise the bar, to build on our strengths and successes, and to ensure our students are achieving at the highest levels. In the next few months, our schools, staff, and students will be preparing for testing, with the added challenge presented to us by the Common Core State Standards. We have been working very hard to ensure that our staff and students are ready to meet this challenge, with increased professional development for teachers and instructional time for students who need it.

Of course, we need the help of our parents and families, our staff, and our community to continue our success.  I encourage all of our families to support our students and their schools in the next few months — your support is crucial to how our students perform overall! Thank you in advance for all that you do to help our students, our schools, and our district reach our academic goals.

As always, I am so grateful and honored for the opportunity to work with you in this endeavor to ensure our students are receiving the very best education. Together, I look forward to the continued success of our children.
