GIST-groupOn February 28, students from Livaudais Middle School took part in the Girls in STEM at Tulane (GIST) program, which provides fifth through eighth grade girls with the opportunity to meet and work with women role models in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields.

A total of 56 young women from Livaudais attended workshops developed and offered by Tulane faculty and student teams to encourage and empower girls to inquire, investigate, and discover in a positive environment.

Workshops offered to participants covered topics like coding and computer programming, effects of an oil spill, the science of fluids, and the study of birds.
