Lale Geer Sworn In as Acting Superintendent

Lale Geer is sworn in as Interim Superintendent by JPSB attorney Mike Fanning.

In front of coworkers, family, and friends, Lale Geer was sworn in today as Acting Superintendent of the Jefferson Parish Public School System. Along with serving in the district’s top spot until a new superintendent is named, Geer will continue his role as the district’s Chief Operations and Planning Officer. The Jefferson Parish School Board selected Geer for the acting role during its meeting on February 23. He takes over for Isaac Joseph who retired from the district February 28.

As Chief Operations and Planning Officer, Geer oversees all operations management and planning within the Jefferson Parish Public School System, including the district’s emergency management, facilities and maintenance, food services, technology, and transportation departments. Geer began his career with JPPSS in 1990, and has served as an elementary and middle school teacher, middle school dean, elementary principal, high school principal, director of transportation, and most recently, assistant superintendent of operations. He has a master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of New Orleans.
