KPMG Helps Audubon Elementary Start the Year Right

IMG_0943A wonderful community partnership is benefiting the students of Audubon Elementary from the very start of the 2016-17 school year.

KPMG’s Family for Literacy visited students in grades first through fifth on the first day of school, August 11. Students were treated to read alouds by engaging storytellers composed of KPMG’s leading executives, in addition to interns from around the country. The students interacted with company employees through various literacy activities. The importance of reading was emphasized throughout the day. This was reinforced when at the conclusion of the event each child was given their very own book to take home. Audubon’s students kicked off a new year of reading and learning in quite a great way!

IMG_0865On Tuesday August 9th, Audubon Elementary was buzzing with activity. This was due to company interns from KPMG swarming the school’s campus. Over 45 young people volunteered their time to spruce things up for the 2016-17 school year. Workers painted, cleaned, gardened, and dusted. Fourteen new white boards were purchased and installed. Ceiling tiles were replaced and bulletin boards were hung. Various tools and gardening items were donated to Audubon as well. The faculty and staff are extremely grateful to KPMG for their generosity and time. The refreshed campus was ready to greet students and parents during Audubon’s second annual Meet and Greet that was held Tuesday afternoon.
