JPPSS Students Big Winners At Science & Engineering Fair

Students from the Jefferson Parish Public School System (JPPSS) participated in the Greater New Orleans Science and Engineering Fair (Region IX) held last month at The University of New Orleans.

Haynes Academy for Advanced Studies was the big winner with 29 awards. Other winning schools included Patrick F. Taylor Science & Technology Academy, Thomas Jefferson High School, John Q. Adams Middle School, T.H. Harris Middle School, Livaudais Middle School, and Riverdale Middle School.

These materials and/or field trip grants are presented to participating high schools which have a minimum of 10 projects competing in the senior division. These awards are given to recognize successful participation in the fair and are to be used to promote interest in upper level math and science courses.

Three Grand Award Winners were selected from winners in each category from the senior division to represent Region IX. Transportation and living expenses are provided to the students and their teachers.
