JPPSS Student Named Finalist in Student of Year Program

A Bissonet Plaza Elementary School student was recently named a finalist in the Louisiana Student of the Year program for the 2012 – 2013 school year.

Bissonet student Bennett Rine is one of five other finalists in the elementary school category and will compete for top honors during a daylong program at the state department of Education later in the month of April.

Rine will take part in a two-phase evaluation before the state selection committee on April 18 by completing a writing assignment and participating in an interview.  Later that evening, Rine will be recognized at a reception at the Louisiana State Museum where awards will be presented and the student of the year will be announced.  Invitations to the ceremony have been mailed to Rine, his parents, as well as to his principal, program coordinator and JPPSS acting superintendent Dr. James Meza, Jr.

Rine is the son of the Eastbank Parents Advisory Committee chairman Brad Rine.

Congratulations to Bennett and good luck in the state competition!
