JPPSS Advanced Study Academies among Top Schools in Louisiana

Advanced Study Academies (ASAs) in the Jefferson Parish Public School System (JPPSS) are among the top schools in Louisiana, according to 2013-14 school performance scores released by the Louisiana Department of Education yesterday. All eight of the district’s ASAs were ranked among the top 25 in the state, with five schools being ranked in the top 10.

“Our Advanced Study Academies continue to raise the bar for excellence in academic performance,” said Superintendent James Meza, Jr. “The students, staff, and families of these schools should be so proud of all that they have accomplished, as they can count themselves among the best in the state.”

The five schools ranked in the top 10 are as follows:

  • Patrick F. Taylor Science & Technology Academy (2nd)
  • Haynes Academy for Advanced Studies (3rd)
  • Metairie Academy for Advanced Studies (4th)
  • Airline Park Academy for Advanced Studies (7th)
  • Thomas Jefferson High School (10th)

In addition, three more schools are in the top 25:

  • L. W. Ruppel Academy for Advanced Studies (11th)
  • Gretna No. 2 Academy for Advanced Studies (13th)
  • Marrero Academy for Advanced Studies (25th)

All eight ASAs are designated “A” schools based on their performance, joining seven other JPPSS schools who earned the top letter grade. For more details on 2014 school performance scores for JPPSS, visit our website at jpschools.org.
