One of the many talented students in the Jefferson Parish Public School System (JPPSS) will soon have her work seen by leaders in the district and from across the state.

John Ehret High junior Liyah Wilson is the winner of the annual Jefferson Parish Public School System Finance Department art contest. Wilson’s artwork will appear on the cover of the school system’s annual financial report, which will be seen by leaders across the district, parish, and state. Johnson also won $100 for herself and $100 for her school’s art program.

“I was inspired by the school and everything we use or see everyday,” said Wilson. She plans on attending art school after she graduates and would like to be an art teacher.

“Liyah is very creative and takes everything to the next level.” said Teacher Kylie Tregre. “She has really good use of color so everything she does stands out. She would be great in the advertising field.”

This is the fourth year of the Finance Department’s art contest, which is open to students from all schools and grade levels. Students were asked to submit a piece that portrays both Jefferson Parish and education.
