Jefferson Public Schools Announce Student of the Year

The Jefferson Parish Public School System selected three students as Student of the Year and all were recognized by Superintendent Dr. Diane Roussel for their “excellent school efforts and their volunteer work in the community.”

Metairie Academy fifth grader Injee Hong, Marrero Middle School eighth grader Ricky Tran, and Taylor Academy senior Nhu Ngoc Pham each received a cookie bouquet and words of praise from the superintendent during her visit. Board members Ray St. Pierre and Glenn Hayes, Jr. also acknowledged the students during the surprise announcements.

As the system’s nominees for Student of the Year; Hong, Tran, and Pham will travel to St. Mary Parish on January 28 to participate at the next level in the Region One competition and possibly go to the state contest.  Congratulations to these outstanding students and good luck in the next round of competition.
