Healthy Changes are Happening at Ehret

On September 18, students at John Ehret High School welcomed special visitors to campus – Saints Ambassador Michael Lewis and Saints mascot Gumbo – and these visitors didn’t come empty handed. Lewis awarded a check for $3,900 to Tracy Parker, Ehret’s school based health center nurse practitioner, to jumpstart the NFL’s Fuel Up to Play 60 program at the school.

The grant from the Southeast United Dairy Industry Association will help Ehret implement the health and wellness program, which promotes healthy eating, including dairy products, and 60 minutes of daily exercise.

Students who belong to the school’s wellness club put together the pep rally to launch Fuel Up to Play 60. There was entertainment from the Ehret band, majorettes, dance team and cheerleaders. Lewis, Gumbo and students also gave away footballs and t-shirts.
