Haynes Celebrates the World

Last December, the Haynes Academy for Advanced Studies offered its school community a chance to travel the world. The sixth annual International Food Festival held at the school represented more than 30 nations.

“This is truly one of the most successful events we have here at Haynes,” said principal Jerome Helmstetter. “It began as simply a food festival, but then we added entertainment and we now have an extravaganza.”

According to chairperson Nancy Serio, the event takes months of planning and the cooperation of all the school’s departments.

“We have one the most unique and diverse schools in the district,” said Henry Hom, Haynes Parent Teacher Organization president. “This is a fantastic event for us to recognize and celebrate that diversity.”

Funds raised from the event are used for various school clubs and honor societies.
