Haynes Academy Advances to National Competition of “We the People”

Haynes Academy is advancing to the national competition of “We the People” after qualifying by becoming state champion at the Baton Rouge tournament at the end of January.  This is the first time Haynes Academy has won the state championship.

Haynes Academy was one of three Jefferson Parish Public School System schools competing in the state tournament.  A total of five schools representing four congressional district competed in the annual event.  Haynes Academy was joined by Helen Cox and John Ehret high schools at the competition.

State Representative Patricia Smith and Louisiana Center for Law and Civic Education President Brian Engeron presented the WTP state championship trophy to teacher Jamie Staub of Haynes Academy.

Congratulations to Haynes Academy on the state championship and good luck at the national competition in Washington, D.C. from April 30 – May 2.
