Four Principals and Eighteen Teachers Honored at Picard Education Excellence Celebration

Four principals and eighteen National Board Certified teachers in the Jefferson Parish Public School System were honored at the Cecil Picard Education Excellence Symposium and Celebration in Baton Rouge.

Hazel Park principal Karen Bucher was honored for her work with the Teacher Advancement Program (TAP).   Middleton principal Aretha Williams was honored for work in the Turnaround Specialist Program after successfully completing Year 1 of a 3-year program.  Keller principal Sandy Doland and Harris principal Chip Guichet were both honored as finalists in the state’s Principal of the Year program.

Eighteen National Board Certified teachers from the Jefferson Parish Public School System were also recognized during the day-long event.

The Jefferson Parish Public School System now has 176 nationally board certified teachers – the most of any school district in Louisiana.

This is the fourth year the Cecil Picard Education Excellence Symposium and Celebration has recognized the state’s top principals and teachers.
