About Us

The Emergency and Risk Management department’s responsibility is to support our principals, teachers, support personnel, parents, first responders and students to ensure that as a system, we build and improve our capability to prepare for and protect against all threats. We collaborate with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP) and all available resources of the Jefferson Parish government, sheriff’s office, police chiefs and fire districts.

 Emergency Management Crisis Plan

The Emergency and Risk Management department has developed and maintains a comprehensive Emergency Crisis Plan to help our schools better understand and prepare for multiple emergency situations. District employees may download a current copy of the JPPSS Crisis Plan. This document requires a password to open. ID Cards

Jefferson Parish Public School System requires all personnel to have a picture ID. Central Office staff needing an ID are asked to please call Emergency and Risk Management to set up an appointment as well as download and complete an ID Request Form. This form will need to be signed by a Supervisor and given to an Emergency Management team member at the time of your appointment. Appointments are scheduled Monday – Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Please contact  our office at (504)349-7641 to schedule an appointment for your ID.

Access Key Cards

If you are in need of an Access Key Card, please email Jessica Babin-Middleton at Jessica.Babin@jppss.k12.la.us Please be sure to complete and attach a Key Card Request  form to your email.

Re-entry Authorization Placards

Hurricane season is June 1st through November 30th. All essential district personnel are required to have a current state issued re-entry placard to return to the parish during any mandatory evacuation period. Placards are issued starting June 1 and returned to Emergency Management by December 30th. Anyone with a placard with an expired date will not be permitted re-entry into the parish. If  you need to report your placard as lost or stolen, please notify a member of the Emergency and Risk Management team immediately and submit a letter on your district/schools letterhead indicating so.
