About Us

Driving instruction is offered to high school students 15 years old to 17 years old and at least in the 8th grade. This is a state-approved course. Students can receive a 1/2 unit credit for taking the course, which is offered 4 times yearly.

The 38 hours driver’s education course includes 30 hours of classroom instruction for 10 nights from 5:00-8:00 p.m., students must attend all classes. The course also includes 8 hours of student driving. The cost of the course is $400.00 and must be paid by money order or check at registration.  Enrollment is limited/Copy of student’s birth certificate needed at registration.

All current JPPSS Employees will receive a 10% discount for their son/daughter to attend the Driver’s Ed. Program, cost $ 360.00

DRIVER’S EDUCATION REGISTRATION:

Registration will be held at the following locations and dates.

East Bank:
Registration begins at 5:00 P.M. and ends when all seats have been sold or 6:00 P.M. whichever comes first.:
T.H. Harris Middle School, Cafeteria

Spring Session: Thursday, February 16, 2017
Summer Session: Thursday, May 18, 2017

West Bank:  (New Location and Day)
Registration begins at 9:00 A.M. and ends when all seats have been sold or 10:00 A.M. whichever comes first.:

DRIVER’S EDUCATION CLASSES:

Monday – Friday, 5 – 8 p.m., for 2 weeks, 10 nights of classroom instruction.
Spring Session: March 6 – 17, 2017

Monday – Friday, 3 – 6 p.m., for 2 weeks, 10 afternoons of classroom instruction.
Summer Session: June 5 – 16, 2017

East Bank Class Site:
Bonnabel High School

Upon completion of classroom requirements the instructors will have 3 months for each student to complete 8 hours behind the wheel training. This training will be divided into 3 – 4 session. Students will drive after school, on weekends and any available day(s) when school is not in session.

LOST DRIVER’S EDUCATION CERTIFICATE OF SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION
Student’s made obtain a duplicate copy of their lost Driver’s Education Certificate of Completion from the Driver’s Ed office.  Please call in advance so the documents can be located.  A fee of 15.00 is charged for all duplicates.

CERTIFICATION OF REQUIRED SCHOOL ATTENDANCE FORM
Students, under the age of 18, are required to bring a current “Certification of Required School Attendance” form each time they go to the D.M.V.  Please see the counselor at your school for this form.  Remember it must be on school letterhead signed in blue ink for the D.M.V. to accept it.
