About Us

The Jefferson Parish Public School System magnet school program currently offers the following emphasis areas:

  • Arts Integration
  • French and Spanish Language Immersion
  • International Baccalaureate (IBO)
  • STEM

Programs

Arts Integration

The comprehensive arts integration program is designed for students who have a strong interest in dance, drama, music, and art as well as for students who want a challenging academic experience. The curriculum is designed to incorporate the arts into the core classes to help deepen and broaden student understanding while adhering to the state mandated learning objectives and parish policies.

Schools:

French & Spanish Language Immersion

The French and Spanish immersion programs develop student proficiency in a second language while providing a foundation in fundamentals of language arts, mathematics, social studies, science, health, physical education and cultural arts programs. The program fosters an understanding of and an appreciation for Louisiana’s cultures and those of other areas and countries.

Schools:

International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO)

IBO programs develop the whole student, helping students to grow intellectually, socially, aesthetically and culturally. They provide a broad and balanced education that includes science and the humanities, languages and mathematics, technology and the arts. They instill a sense of responsibility towards others and towards the environment. IBO programs also give students an awareness and understanding of their own culture and of other cultures, values and ways of life.

Schools:

STEM

STEM schools are designed to provide a curriculum and learning experience which is based on educating students in four specific disciplines — science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) — in an interdisciplinary and applied approach. There is an emphasis on engaging students in inquiry-based learning focused on solving real-world problems. Students are working productively as teams, using the engineering design process, and engaging in cross-curricular and project-based learning. Opportunities are provided to take STEM education beyond the classroom, to connect STEM learning to careers, to promote lifelong learning, and to create a STEM-educated workforce that can meet the demands of business in an increasingly complex and technology-driven economy.

Schools:

The Jefferson Parish Public School System does not discriminate on the basis of gender, race, color, or national or ethnic origin in the creation or implementation of educational policies.
