Community, Civic Leaders Celebrate Success at St. Ville Elementary

IMG_1807School and community leaders celebrated the reopening of St. Ville Elementary recently during the school’s inaugural “Parade for Success.”

The event served to build on the relationship between the historic elementary school, community leaders, and residents of “Old Harvey.” Held on December 5, the morning began with a program in the school’s auditorium. Some of the keynote speakers included pastor and Jefferson Parish School Board member Ricky Johnson and Jefferson Parish Public School System Superintendent Isaac G. Joseph.

There was also a community parade/march led by councilman Mark Spears, Sterling Brignac, the Jefferson Parish Police Department. the pom squad, student council, and Multicultural Club of St. Ville. Helen Cox High and West Jefferson High closed the event with a “Battle of the Bands.”

St. Ville fed families, students and guests with concession items and entrees donated by one of the many sponsors: China Doll restaurant. Principal Terrah A. Harrison and the faculty and staff of St. Ville would like to thank the event’s many participants for the hard work and diligence that made the day a huge success.
