Chevron’s Fuel Your School Program Provides Funding for Teachers

This fall, Chevron’s Fuel Your School program will support public education in St. Tammany, Orleans, Plaquemines, St Bernard, Lafourche, Terrebonne, Lafayette, Jefferson and Vermillion parishes by helping K-12 educators, receive funding for eligible classroom projects – ranging from pencils to microscope slides, and even live tarantulas for use with biology lessons – through DonorsChoose.org, an online charity that organizes funding for schools across the country. Chevron’s donations will help fund eligible classroom projects and projects are funded on a rotating basis by the order in which they are received and posted on DonorsChoose.org. Chevron encourages teachers to post eligible classroom projects for science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education to help prepare students who may be interested in these types of advanced technical jobs.

What teachers can do now

To sign up and request funding for your eligible classroom project, follow these three simple steps:

1. If you’re not yet a registered teacher on DonorsChoose.org, sign up now. It will save you time when you actually post your project.

2. Post your project (requesting up to $2,000** in materials) on or as close to, but not before Sept. 1, as possible. The earlier you post your project during the submission period of Sept. 1 through Nov. 30, 2013, the better your chance will be to receive funding. Chevron reserves the right to end the submission period earlier if funds have been exhausted by eligible projects.

3. Spread the word about the Fuel Your School program, and be sure to go to Facebook and “like” Chevron Fuel Your School.

How it works

Throughout the month of October, everyone can help their local public schools by filling up at participating Chevron and Texaco locations. Chevron will donate $1, up to $500,000, when consumers purchase 8 or more gallons of fuel at participating local Chevron and Texaco stations in St. Tammany, Orleans, Plaquemines, St Bernard, Lafourche, Terrebonne, Lafayette, Jefferson and Vermillion parishes to help fund eligible classroom projects.

The Fuel Your School program can help make a big impact for our students and their future.  Take advantage of this great opportunity by visiting www.FuelYourSchool.com for all the details and learn from other teachers who have seen the benefits of this program by watching teacher testimonials on YouTube.

**According to DonorsChoose.org requirements, teachers with four points or more can request up to $2,000 in materials, and all other teachers can request a maximum of $800 in materials.
