Butler Students Dance for Metairie Manor Residents

On November 3, 2014, students from Butler Elementary School showcased their dancing skills in salsa, swing, tango, and waltz for the residents of Metairie Manor, a retirement and assisted living facility. The students are participants in the JPPSS Ballroom Dance Program/Dance Challenge, a program founded by former JPPSS board member Martin Marino that features elementary students performing the major styles of ballroom dancing.

Students participating in the program display their ballroom dancing skills at an annual Dance Challenge event, held in the spring every year, where an expert panel of judges decides the winners. In 2014, elementary students from 20 Jefferson Parish Public Schools participated in the event. This is the ninth year of the ballroom program in the Jefferson Parish Public School System.
