Bunche Attendance Zone

The Jefferson Parish School Board is pleased to announce the re-opening of Ralph J. Bunche Elementary School for the 2017-2018 school year for grades pre-K through 5. The board has approved the school to have a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) focus in addition to the Louisiana State Standards. This is a very exciting time for the Bunche Community and our district as a whole.

Following two public hearings held in May, our board approved the attendance zone for Ralph J. Bunch Elementary School during its June 13, 2017 meeting. Students who attend the following schools may be impacted: Bridgedale Elementary, Green Park Elementary, Hazel Park/Hilda Knoff Elementary, Phoebe Hearst Elementary, and Rudolph Matas School. To determine if your child may be impacted, please click on the changes to your school below.

Students entering 5th Grade, their terminal grade, for 2017-2018 and would otherwise be assigned to the Bunche 2017-2018 attendance zone, shall be afforded an Option to Stay, to be exercised on or before July 21, 2017 to continue enrollment in their 2016-2017 school through completion of the 2017-2018 school year. You can download a 2017-2018 Option to Stay Transfer Request by clicking on one of the links below. Please note that this is only for students entering the 5th grade who would otherwise be assigned to Bunche Elementary for the 2017-2018 school year.

Due to the school board’s recent approval of the boundary changes, we have extended the 2017-18 magnet school application deadline for students impacted by the new attendance zones. The application deadline for these students is July 14, 2017 at 4 p.m. Click on one of the links below to download an application. Please call 504-349-7792 with any questions.
