Bridgedale Elementary named 2014 National Title I Distinguished School

The Jefferson Parish Public School System announced today that Bridgedale Elementary School has been named as a 2014 National Title I Distinguished School.

Bridgedale was awarded the honor based on outstanding performance as a Category 2 school: one that has significantly closed the achievement gap between student groups. Only two schools in Louisiana were recognized as a Distinguished School.

“Being recognized as a National Title I Distinguished School is an incredible honor for Bridgedale and for the district,” said Superintendent Dr. James Meza, Jr. “Bridgedale students and staff have accomplished so much within the last few years – this national award is well deserved.”

In the coming weeks, Principal Ben Moscona, his students, and staff will document “A Day in the Life of Bridgedale,” sharing photos highlighting the school’s accomplishments. Representatives will then travel to the National Title I conference in San Diego in February 2014 to be recognized with other Distinguished School honorees.

The National Title I Association is dedicated to improving and implementing the Title I program so that more children reach their academic potential. The Association provides educational leaders at the state and local levels with the opportunity to work together to share ideas on effective and innovative programs, identify problems and solutions, and represent the needs of Title I families.
