Boudreaux Elementary School Receives I.B.O. Certification

Boudreaux Elementary School becomes the fifth school in the Jefferson Parish Public School System and the third elementary school in the state of Louisiana to be authorized as an International Baccalaureate Organization School and places the school among some of the most prestigious educational facilities in the country.

The school recently won approval from the International Baccalaureate Organization (I.B.O.) and is authorized to offer the Primary Years Program which is designed for students aged 3 to 12.

Boudreaux now joins Bridgedale Elementary School, Riverdale Middle School, John Ehret High School and Riverdale High School as the fifth school in the Jefferson Parish Public School System to offer the I.B. program.

The approval, which came from the I.B.O. regional office in New York City, marks the culmination of a four-year effort by Superintendent Dr. Diane Roussel to bring the program to the Jefferson Parish Public School System.

The I.B. diploma program is a challenging curriculum of accelerated college-preparatory courses with a global perspective. Founded in 1968 in Geneva, Switzerland, the International Baccalaureate Organization offers programs in elementary, middle, and high school.

The I.B. programs do not require testing for admission. Parents and students interested in the program may now contact Principal Kiplyn Diaz about the application process.  For more information on the I.B. program, contact the Department of Innovative Schools & Programs at 504-349-8574.
