Audubon Elementary Students Receive Gift of Language

9-1On September 22, school board member Sandy Denapolis-Bosarge, accompanied by fellow members of the River Region Republican Women organization, visited with third graders from Audubon Elementary. Their purpose was to place a dictionary in the hands of every child. The third grade students were the definition of excited!

The goal of The Dictionary Project is to ensure that everyone will be able to enjoy the benefits of owning a dictionary. The project began as an idea in 1992. In 1995, the nonprofit was officially launched. Since that time, over 18 million students have received dictionaries. Audubon third graders immediately began exploring their new resource which they can use at school and at home. Students were observed telling other adults, “I have my own dictionary!” as the day went on. The organization’s gift illustrated the meaning of generosity to Audubon’s third graders. It’s one that they won’t soon forget!
