Adams Middle Takes Ice Bucket Challenge

The idea of the Ice Bucket Challenge began in the exploratory class at Adams, the last period of the day used for various activities including homework, reading, theater, and others. For the first few weeks of school, the focus of the class was on bullying – to promote awareness and to have the students really understand on the issue.

To increase awareness, students decided to do the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge – and first up was Principal Chuck DiLauro. More than 150 students paid $2.00 to participate. All proceeds were donated to the ALS organization.

“It surprised me how well it went,” said Alana Villavaso, talent theater teacher at Adams. “It was a lot of work, but I wanted our students to have empathy and compassion for others.”
