25 JPPSS Schools Achieved Recognized or Exemplary Growth Awards

Twenty-five schools in the Jefferson Parish Public School System have achieved Recognized or Exemplary Growth from the Louisiana Department of Education based on 2010 school performance scores.

Eleven schools earned the distinction of Recognized Academic Growth and fourteen schools earned the distinction of Exemplary Academic Growth.

The Jefferson Parish School Board will recognize the 25 schools and their principals during the board’s May 4 meeting with the presentation of a special banner that will be affixed at each school.

The state awards are based on data and calculations from the 2010 high stakes testing.  This is the second year since Hurricane Katrina in 2005 that the state dept. of education has awarded the recognized or exemplary growth banners.
