2019-2020 Declaration of Intent Process

Human Resources is continuing the initiative of “Quality from the Start,” by implementing a Declaration of Intent process. The Declaration of Intent is an opportunity for teachers to declare their intent to return for the 2019-2020 school year.

This information is routed directly to the Human Resources Department and will be used to identify vacancies early. The district’s goal is to have a Quality Teacher in every classroom and zero vacancies on the first day of school.

The deadline to submit the Declaration of Intent and Resignation (If they are separating from the District) – is April 15, 2019.

Action Steps for Teachers:

  • Review definition of teacher below:
    • Definition of Teacher as defined in the Memorandum of Understanding between the Jefferson Parish School Board and the Jefferson Federation of Teachers (JFT), Teacher is defined as: teachers, counselors, librarians, speech therapists, social workers, educational diagnosticians, school psychologists, and nurses
  • Review the FAQ regarding the Declaration of Intent, as it contains important details and instructions regarding the Declaration of Intent process.
  • Complete the Declaration of Intent Form available at the link below:
  • If you indicate on the Declaration of Intent, that you will NOT be returning to the District for the 2019-2020 school year, you must fill out a post-dated Resignation Form and submit electronically to staffing@jppss.k12.la.us.
    • Note: No forms are being collected at the school level. All documents are submitted to Human Resources directly.
